Personality[]
At a glance, Tokiyama comes off as senile but in actuality it's all an act, he still has his wits about him, even at his old age. Most become shocked when they witness his true personality. He doesn't like it when chefs patronize him by serving him dishes catered to the elderly and will express his annoyance, possibly even failing the chef in his verdict.
History[]
Tokiyama's career as a chef began several decades ago when Japan was still recovering from WWII. He mainly worked for underground figures and toiled away his days cooking for them. To him, there was nothing that brought him the same feeling of fulfillment and satisfaction as standing in the kitchen so when time eventually passed, and he retired due to being in a old age and the thought of no longer being able of standing in the kitchen truly depressed him. He even considered taking his own life. It was then, he got scouted as a judge for the BLUE, Tokiyama thought that after having the honor of partaking in it, he would commit suicide. One of the 2 pistols he carries contains a live round and is for that purpose. However, when he meets Sōma Yukihira and gets a taste of his dish, he reconsiders taking his life and took the youth up on his offer to visit his diner, when he really nears his end, to have a proper "last supper".
