In their first meeting, Nene was one of the three Elite Ten members who declined Sōma's Shokugeki request. During the 1st bout, she asked him if he managed to see far ahead, and Soma replied, "Doing this kinda stuff is just par for the course." As she admitted her defeat, she now realized that she's no match for him, not as a chef or an artisan, and eating Sōma's Barley Flour Soba.

Satoshi Isshiki[]
Like Nene, Satoshi is a fellow 91st Generation student. During her cooking match with Sōma, she displayed quite a bit of interest in Satoshi's actions, even referring to Sōma as the freshmen that Satoshi was interested in. It was later revealed that Satoshi temporarily resided in the Kinokuni household when he was four years old as part of his family's old tradition. However, Nene grew annoyed at how Satoshi effortlessly mastered the skills that she had to dedicate tremendous effort to learn. When asked if they were childhood friends, she stated that he was only a freeloader living in her house. Nevertheless, Nene acknowledges Satoshi's skill, admitting that everyone in the Elite Ten knows that the only reason that she had a higher seat was due to his laziness. As a result, Nene wants to defeat him in a Shokugeki to prove that she is the better chef out of the two.
During the 4th bout of Régiment de Cuisine, she realizes the reason why Satoshi feels joy and happiness while cooking. After witnessing her visage while she was cooking, Satoshi described it as "beautiful" and as the one chef who truly inspired him to become a better chef. After revealing that he deeply respects and admires Nene as a chef and friend, Nene is moved to tears.
