Synopsis

Sōma’s plan starts to backfire on him, and he needs to think of a way to turn things around before his time runs out.

Plot

When Sōma is making more of his Mini Soufflé Omelet, he realizes that no one has taken a single one from the rest, and they have quickly lost their forms. In his thoughts, there's a difference between a buffet, where customers decide if they come for a dish, and Yukihira Diner, where a dish is served at the right time and temperature. Sōma makes plenty more of his omelets, but Erina is luring many customers away with her Eggs Benedict, which results in her completing 200 servings. Erina begins to mock Sōma for choosing an ill-suited dish for a buffet and looks forward to seeing him leave Tōtsuki.

As Gin and Roland are watching the students serving their dishes, Ikumi gets frustrated after only having 150 servings. She realizes that the girl manages to take the customers away from her when her Three Forms of Eggs is holding a secret. Two staff members are delighted by tasting her dish, and everyone wants it, which results in the girl having 300 servings. Takumi and Megumi have completed 200 servings, but they're concerned about Sōma. Remembering running the restaurant with his father, Sōma is lost in thought as he panics, so Jōichirō claps his hands, telling him to visualize each task he has to do. As Erina is proving her superiority to Sōma, he's silent, which leads to her curiosity. Thinking of a way to succeed in attracting customers, he puts on his bandana, much to Erina's surprise. As he is watched under surveillance by Gin and Hirohime, Sōma attempts to win a customer. Luckily, Akari is amazed by Sōma's cooking and how good his omelet is. Once she tastes the omelet, it's delicious. While witnessing it, Erina believes it doesn't mean anything. However, when two female staff members are delighted after taking a bite from the omelet, Sōma manages to obtain more customers. Erina is shocked, but she finds it impossible for Sōma to serve the necessary amount of customers in only 30 minutes.

After the girl's companion and another student have reached 200 servings, Hitoshi allows the girl to wrap things up after having used up all her ingredients. When Ikumi is serving customers, the girl says bye to her and leaves, which annoys Ikumi when the girl has made 380 servings. Getting bored, the girl decides to check on Erina, but she also wonders what happened to Sōma. Everyone is in awe by Sōma using 8 stoves to make omelets with speed, which results in taking Erina's customers away. Hiroshima remarks that despite the heavy workload, Sōma keeping up the pace. Gin notes that it's called live cooking: Instead of preparing the food to the customers' table, they are prepared in front of them, and watching ingredients turn into a dish is exhilarating. While the Polar Star Dormitory residents and Isami have made 200 servings, there are only 5 minutes left. As Takumi, Megumi, Erina, and the girl are watching, Sōma is still serving the customers as he's sweating. By the end of time, he has completed 200 servings. While Takumi and Megumi are relieved to see him make it, Sōma gives a thumbs up to Erina, which irritates her. Suddenly, the girl appears and admits being surprised that he managed to pull it off by doing live cooking. In the surveillance room, Gin, Roland, and Hirohime are impressed by Sōma when they're observing him. Gin reviews that Sōma had a handicap in his menu, but he overcame it by adapting, Hirohime admits that Sōma is a diamond in the rough, but he brings up Erina who made 407 servings and the girl who made 380 servings.

The girl reminds Sōma that he'll never reach the top spot if he relies on live cooking, so she tells him to need workmanship like her own cooking. Furthermore, she introduces herself as Erina's cousin, Alice Nakiri, and will be the one who'll stand at the top. When Alice's companion arrives, she tells him to explain her upbringing to Sōma. However, He makes an explanation in a slower way, so she stops him and will continue instead. Alice explains that her father founded Nakiri International, based on gastronomy in Denmark, her mother's homeland, and she was there and entered Tōtsuki to defeat Erina to become number one. Erina scoffs that her cooking will never lose Alice's cutting-edge techniques. In response, Alice retaliates that Erina is always like that as she remembers their childhood when Erina took her toy away and called her cake disgusting after tasting it, but Erina interferes as she questions Alice if it has anything to do with defeating her. Alice then tells Sōma about hearing his speech, but she adds that performance arts in food belong in a bygone area. As proof, he barely scraped by a task that requires 200 servings, which Sōma agrees as he was sweating to make it through. However, he has learned from experiencing failure, much to Erina and Alice's surprise. Alice finds Sōma complicated and declares that she won't lose to either him or Erina. Before Alice leaves with her companion, she looks forward to face Sōma in a Shokugeki one day. As he sees them leave, Sōma notices the crimson bandana that Alice's companion has on his right wrist. As Megumi and Takumi approach Sōma, Gin announces that the next task will be in 4 hours, and the students are free to do as they please until then. So the students head to the kitchen to start cooking.

As everyone is in the lobby, Megumi is wondering about what could be planned. When Ryōko checks the schedule in the guidebook, there's nothing about it, and Yūki is afraid there might be the same task as the last one. When Gin arrives, Zenji, Shun, Daigo, and Shūji fear hearing another grueling task. Gin announces that 352 students have dropped out and 628 have remained. He admits it's cruel, but the camp is what it means for the students to choose cooking for their career. To be chefs, they have to face the unknown and overcome challenges. That life is akin to wandering alone through a wasteland; the more they climb, the more they stumble, and the more unclear their goals will become. Before the students know it, they'll reach a standstill after reaching the pinnacle and lose sight to return. But Gin wants them to remember at Tōtsuki, others would be in the same wasteland, and this notion will sustain them once they go forward. Gin wishes the students luck and begins the final program, which turns out to be a banquet prepared by the Alumni for those who survived. Everyone is relieved they enter and enjoy their meals. Remembering not wanting to go to Tōtsuki, Sōma now finds the school life to be interesting. Behind the curtains, Hirohime talks about the talent of this year's student, which causes Gin to remark looking forward to the students facing each other in the Autumn Elections.
