Sparkling Soul is the 19th chapter of the Shokugeki no Soma series.
Plot Summary[]
Hinako declares the assignment to be over, much to some of the students' relief who passed while others are despaired who failed. Sōma and Takumi are waiting for her judgment of who won. When Hinako mentions an idea nobody has thought of, Takumi thinks Sōma wins, but she pauses to think. As she mentions the aigamo not being overlooked, Takumi thinks he has won, yet Hinako pauses to think again, which brings Sōma and Takumi down. However, Hinako's phone is ringing, and it's Kojirō calling, telling her to come back. She tells the students to head back to the hotel. Sōma and Takumi ask Hinako for the judgement, so she teases them by delaying the decision before declaring it a draw.
Hinako tells the students to go to the bus as she goes off. While infuriated at getting teased, Sōma accepts it, but Takumi doesn't. Takumi reminds Sōma that they'll settle this some other time, and he'll one day challenge him to a shokugeki, telling Sōma to not run away and must accept it when he'll crush him. Before walking away, Takumi remarks to Sōma they'll meet again.
In the bus, Sōma and Takumi are ironically sitting next to each other. When Sōma says they meet again, Takumi retorts not to talk to him. Sōma questions Takumi if he doesn't want to crush him, but Takumi again says not to talk to him while Isami laughs. In Takumi's thoughts, he was sure to have won with the aigamo dish until Sōma stood his ground. Despite that no one has either won or lost, Takumi feels defeated, so he won't let it end like this. In Sōma's mind, he found someone, Takumi from Trattoria Aldini, who can do much, and he wouldn't have known about it if he stayed in Yukihira.
Back at the hotel, Sōma and Megumi reunite with the Polar Star residents. Shun declares that all of them survived the first day as they're excited. Suddenly, Sōma finds Zenji lying on the ground, and Shun thinks Zenji ran around the whole time. Megumi and Ryōko are tired, but Yūki mentions about a luxurious dinner she's overjoyed to have. Until then, she encounters muscular men in the hotel.
Hitoshi tells the students they'll have free time if they finish dinner. When Yūki asks who they are, Hitoshi says they're from the bodybuilding club of the upper arm university, and the American football club and the wrestling club will come later. He instructs the students to make 50 beef steak meals, much to their shock. Yūki questions about their own dinner, and Hitoshi says they have to cook their own dinner and breakfast when they finish making 50 meals, much to her heartbreak as Ryōko can hear it. Hitoshi then reminds the students that they'll be expelled if they don't make it in 60 minutes as they begin.
As the students start cooking the beef steak meals for the bodybuilders, some must redo them while others feel tired, and in Yūki's mind, the training camp really is hell. Suddenly, Sōma quickly finishes making 50 meals. Falling behind in making 45 meals, Takumi vows to Sōma that he'll (probably) make the meals taste better, but Hitoshi tells Takumi to move his hands, not his lips. Sōma mentions going to Zenji's room, but Zenji tells Sōma not to go there because he plans to sleep.
As Sōma walks, he wonders if there's something on TV. He decides to take a bath first as he hurries to get his yukata and pants. However, Sōma suddenly bumps into Erina who is on the ground.
