Plot Summary[]
In Florence, Italy, Takumi is told by his uncle that he'll be sent to Japan to enroll Tōtsuki Academy when he's 13. His uncle tells him not to worry about the restaurant and to polish his skills, and Isami will also go with Takumi. Upon hearing Sōma's speech in the ceremony, Takumi won't lose to him.
Back in the present, Takumi reveals the mezzaluna knife as Hinako notices it, much to everyone's surprise, and cuts the ingredients at full speed. Isami tells Takumi the aigamo's breast meat will be roasted in seven minutes while they both finish the salsa in the meantime. After Takumi hands him over the mezzaluna knife, Isami quickly cuts the ingredients. As the Aldini twins finish making the salsa, they put it on the on the aigamo meat that they took out of the oven when it's finished. So they have the Aigamo Grilled with Spices ready and present it to Hinako.
Hinako becomes fascinated when taking a bite of the Aldini twins' dish. Noticing the salsa verde they used, the other students warn them that they'll be disqualified for not making a Japanese theme cuisine, but Hinako confirms that they used uruka instead of salted anchovy. Furthermore, the twins have improvised the uruka by boiling them on sake for 2 minutes, and they add them with soy sauce and salt. Instead of parsley, they mixed perilla and spring onion. Instead of garlic, they used yuzuko for the flavor. As a result, Hinako passes the Takumi and Isami. Megumi sees that Takumi is like Sōma.
Takumi approaches Sōma and asks what he'll make. Seeing that they're having a match, Hinako makes an exception and judges which of the two has a tastier dish, much to Takumi's excitement as he gets to challenge Sōma. Suddenly, Hinako adds that whoever loses must kneel and admit oneself to being the dejected loser three times, but she tells Megumi not to kneel, leaving her terrified.
Takumi tells Sōma to make a dish if it's better than his. While thinking about making the best dish, Sōma lists the ingredients for Megumi to gather outside. Before he goes with Megumi, Sōma approaches Hinako to ask if he can use anything. So she answers that it's fine as long as it's inside inside the fence. Sōma grabs something, shocking Megumi, Hinako, and Takumi.
