In a flashback, Rentarō personally talked to Alice Nakiri regarding the disbandment of the Cutting-Edge Cooking RS but she was initially uninterested in saving it. However, Ryō was enraged due to Rentarō's badmouthing and told him that he will shred him to bits.
After the flashback, Rentarō decides to show off his skills by bringing out state-of-the-art cooking equipment that Alice previously used in a match against Sōma Yukihira.
The Shokugeki between Ryō Kurokiba and Rentarō Kusunoki commences on Venue D. Sōma Yukihira cheers Ryō on as Momo Akanegakubo turns away from him, puzzling him. Mea Yanai laughs and tells Sōma that it is within her personality that she ignores new faces. Sōma persists in communing with Momo only to be stopped by the commotion of the crowd, as they begin to realize that the main theme for the Shokugeki is salmon.
Realising all the chefs from Central won their respective matches based on their opponents' specialties, they begin to ponder the extent of their capabilities.
Ryō begins preparing his dish, with Megumi Tadokoro commenting on how swift he performs his slices to the fish. Rentarō astonishingly equals Ryō, shocking everyone.
Just as Rentarō boasts, Ryō recalls the events few days ago, where Rentarō slates both him and Alice, before he boldly accepts the Shokugeki request from Rentarō.
Just as Kakinoshin Ōizumi and Seishū Saotome discusses about Ryō's dish, they noticed two different types of rice grains with bread dough prepared by Ryō. Ryō, in self-thought, believes that only with this method, his maximum output could be brought into this dish. Just afterwards, he then taunts Rentarō and labels him a pretentious bastard unwilling to go all out.
Rentarō, angered, agrees to go all out on his dish, and brings his steam convection oven and cryogenic grinder. Alice, whose cooking skills revolve around dishes requiring these equipment, ponders his capabilities in using such.
Rentarō taunts Ryō again, claiming that he may as well show his abilities since a huge crowd was present and he only served to make him look better.
